I remember reading here that when new from the factory the 560's had some kind of problems with the rearend gears(hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong). This is probably what happened whith the one your dad had.
I believe there was a dealer update that solved the problem for the most part, and if there's an "X" stamped on the serial plate of the tractor then it's had the update done to it. Again- someone please correct me if I'm wrong...just going off memory here!
