My F-12 was difficult to start till I tore it down for a minor overhaul. I think a big thing was replacing the gasket between the manifold and engine so I got good vacuum sucking gas to the cylinders. Starts on the 2nd or 3rd quarter turn most every time......no choke in the summer.
