I have considered buying two IH (350u and 400)tractors in this era over the phone with pix only. Kinda funny. Both sellers when asked about the TA said it was just fine when the lever was ahead but the tractor stopped moving when lever pulled back. Told both of them that that meant the TA was out. Guy with the 350U argued with me about this and many other things including he never sent pix. Didn't buy that one. Guy with the 400 didn't argue was reasonable on the begining price and that one is in my yard. Sellers will try to tell you anything on the TA. Fact is if the tractor stops moving when the lever is pulled back the TA is OUT. Not kinda out or sorta out or half out it is out. Old time IH mechnanic that I know said there were two types of TA's. Those that were out and those that were going out. JM2CW jt
