Are you talking about on a cold start? If so, that is the way Hs are.

Pull your throttle about 2/3 of the way open. Hit the starter with NO CHOKE. Then, after the engine starts, it will try to sputter and die like you say.

When she begins to sputter, feather that choke on/off quickly a few times until she straightens back out.

Hs just don't like a lot of choke.

Also, they are more of a tractor than that $25K compact could ever hope to be.
