I have the rebuilt injection pump back on the 460. I am not sure I have the timing right though. I pulled the nozzles out for testing. The glow plugs and inectors all come out together as one piece as the glow plugs are in the nozzles. We rotated the engine until the #1 cylinder (front cyl) was up. I stuck a wire through the hole to determine when the cylinder reached the high point. Problem is, I can"t find any timing marks on the crankshaft to tell if it is on the right stroke or not. It may not be on the compression stroke. Once the cylinder was up, I matched up the timing marks on the pump and mounted it. I am taking the injectors in for testing today. If it is on the wrong stroke, could it damage the pump, or would it just not start? I don"t want to lock up the pump. I figure if it will not start, I could back off the pump and rotate the engine until the cylinder comes up again and remount the pump. I checked and can"t locate any timing marks on the flywheel. Thanks.
