THANKYOU FOR YOUR HELP.
WHEN I PUT THE NEW POINTS IN I SET THE GAP AT THE HIGHEST POINT ON THE DISTRIBUTOR SHAFT NOT AT TDC. SO I SET THEM AT TDC THIS MORNING, BUT I HAVE ABOUT 20 DEGREES OF PLAY IN THE SHAFT. AFTER SETTING THE POINTS THE TRACTOR RAN SMOOTHER AT IDLE AND THE SPARK WILL JUMP 3/8" TO 1/2" GAP. I STILL HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF BLACK SMOKE AT IDLE, BUT I'LL RUN IT A WHILE AND SEE HOW THE PLUGS LAST. SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT THE PLAY IN THE DIST SHAFT. ALSO HOW DO I SET THE CORRECT TIMING WITH THE DIST.
