Vern: Good point, and you know half those guys that change to 12 volt don't get along any better than they did with 6 volt. Perhaps the biggest thing they did wrong with the 6 volt system, was go to auto parts store and buy a replacment battery cable too small for the job.

Most folks don't look at it this way but as far as I'm concerned there are two issues here 6 or 12 volt and either can work well. The second is charging, generator or alternator and that can be either 6 or 12 volt and again either can work well. The alternator will give better charging and is less expensive to repair.
