Follow up on Cub quit

Thanks to Bigdog and Hal for your responce to my Cub quiting problem. I am sure it was a dead condensor and when I installed the new one I got the lead against the dist,but it's running now.Next question, shouldn't the distributor be mounted to the engine so the #1 plug wire will be at the one oclock to time it correctly? This one is more like eleven Oclock. I am not satisfied with the way it runs now. Thanks Ed
