Mopar, I'd give it some cheese to go with the whine. :>) Seriously, I agree with Rusty that I would check the rear end to make sure it is full. If it has gear oil (not hy-tran) the water will separate out of it and can be drained by loosening the plug located at the rear of the housing below the PTO until the water starts to drip out. After the water is out tighten the plug and then check the level on the plug on the clutch side of the housing just behind the clutch pedal. If the whine persists after that it might be a bearing(s) or bull/bull pinion gears that have some pits in them. Unless you are pulling a plow for days on end, or the noise gets worse quickly, that rear end will probably out last you. If it “clunks” then you need to investigate further.
