FAA clutch adjustment

Tonight I will have my first opportunity to see and
understand the clutch adjustment process as part of my
restoration.

My 1940FAA clutch engages way at the top of the
pedal, and it is very difficult to drop it into any gear
without gear grind, so I have been slowly dropping it
into 4th to allow the gears to mesh, then move the
shifter again into the desired gear.

I understand there is a sight window and some adjuster
nuts, but will this accomplish both gear-mesh AND
pedal engage adjustment? I would appreciate a
diagram if someone has it handy.
