You are right about the stronger knot with the International Balers. They used the McCormick knottiers. The rest use the Dearing Knottiers, which have a lot more moving parts. The McCormick knottiers didn’t use a striper and pulled the knot off the knottier as it baled, were the Dearing knottier used a striper. First rule is to use good twine, make sure the twine disks are gap right or on the 400 that the tension is set right on the disks. Second is to keep the breastplate clean that hold the tension on the knottier. A lot of people try adjusting the knottier when the real trouble is dirt behind the breastplate. The last is to keep the twine knifes sharp. I have a 46 and by following these rules it will tie all day long. It has baled so many bales that I had to take the needles off and weld the grooves in them that the twine had cut in them John In Iowa
