Been there, you have my deepest sympathy…and prayers. I worked for a fairly large very profitable local company that sold out to some investors. Seems the investors figured that we needed a CEO and other high management people to show us how to make more money and hired about 100 people. Three years later the lay offs and firings started and now five years later they are sized to less then before the sale. Many are hoping that this is as bad as it gets. There is short term major medical health care available (besides COBRA) for six months at a time. Not the best insurance but affordable. I don’t know if you qualify, but might be worth looking into. Maybe someone local that knows you and your wife needs someone experienced like yourself. One of my neighbors got laid off and started his own business. Maybe there is something missing in your local area that you can do.
