Darren: The opinion given by CNKS is about right, by then every manufacturer was following that 3 point standard. Big item to watch for along these lines is Catergory. Your 656 is Cat II. I had a 656 back in those days and found some Cat I equipment, even though you could install bushings, just didn't have the right measurments for the larger hitch.

To give you some ideas, I have a 1968 buyers guide in front of me. By then 656 had been on the market 3 years. In field cultivators the Vibra Shank 45 was in, available in trailer, 3 point or fast hitch. I pulled a 12' trailer with my 656 or 560. On plows the semi-mount was in models 500 or 700, 656 will handle 3 to 5 - 16" bottoms depending on your soil. I pulled 5x16 in sandy loam. Those plows had much the same bottom, the 700 just had a larger frame giving more clearence for trash like corn stalks to flow. On front mount cultivators the 78 model number was current.

Disk harrows from IH included 350, 370, 470 those came in sizes for 656, althought the smallest 470 was 12' and I expect that would make a 656 grunt. I pulled 10' of disk with my 656. Newer disks in the late 1960s were starting to get some weight, thus would cut much deeper than we were used to.

Corn planter of the day was model 56, but the 400 air planter came fast on it's heels. No.10 grain drill was in, I had a 12' 24 run with 6" spacing.

I'm not going to comment on haying eq. just list what IH was selling. 816 mower conditioner, 100 series balanced head mowers, 14 and 16 rakes. Balers were 27, 37, 47 and 57. Loaders were the 2000 or 2001.
