Dave I did nit read all you have listed. But 1 & 2 are right. Remove the wheel and housing end cap and PTO. Now through the PTO hole remove the cap screw from the end or the axel and take the wasker off the screw, put the screw back into the axel all the way get a hard block of wood or a shaft that will fit between the left and right axel screws. Now as you screw the capscrew back out it will bush the axel out of the housing. The end cap holds the outer bearing no retainer. In # 3 for get the nut under the bull gear. You said axel bearing so I don't know what carrier you are talking about. Behind the bull gear there is a retainer for the inside bearing. You will have to pull the bull gear back and move it to the other side to get in behind the gear to get at the retainer. If I where to do this job I would remove the axel housing for inside bearing. When you go back together you will need a bar to lift the bullgear some to get the axel to go into the gear, if you don't remove the housing you will need to move the bull gear back and to the other side as best as you can that's why I say forget anything under the gear cause you need to move it.

It is also very apparent that these folks are getting a lot of very poor and often very dangerous advice fro
