You should be able to tell if a gauge is working
by looking at it. It should move if its oil pressure, temp or amps. That's why they have gauges so you can tell if the oil pressure is low,
temp gauge so you don't overheat the engine, and
an amp meter or an idiot light to alert you if the alternator or generator quit working. Could have some gauges on the transmission too. Hal
