I bought what I thought was an F-14 about 3 years ago. I have fully restored it to the point where I'm ready to put the decals on it. But, I'm confused. The tractor has all of the looks of an F-14, but the serial number indicates it is an F-12. The engine block even has the same serial number stamped on it. I have not checked the RPM rating yet. The RPM for an F-14 is about 250 RPM higher than an F-12. The serial number indicates it is an F-12. Could someone have installed an F-12 engine and the front mounting plate for the gas tank in this tractor? Maybe I'm being too picky but, all of the research I've done indicates the serial number is for an F-12. And I know IH had reserved a certain number of tractors for field conversion from F-12 to F-14, but my serial number is way too low. Any comments?
