I think I might have the same problem on my IH 240U. I can shift ok if I don't hesitate when I shift...but if I take it out of gear and let the tractor sit for a minute I can't get it back in gear and it grinds quite a bit. My work-around is I shut the tractor off, press the clutch pedal and put it in gear with tractor off. I can feel something happen inside gear housing that clicks the shifters back into the right position. Then I take it out of gear and re-start and I'm able to get it into gear again ok. If you solved this problem let me know. It's probably easy but I'm just starting the refurb work so I haven't gone over everything yet. One thing I just realized from another post is I'm probably low on Hytran in the tranny, I only put in about 6 gal but I recently read that I'm supposed to have closer to 12 gal!! So that could be part of the problem. jerry from CT
