I didn't mean to imply that the different bends are all a result of heating and bending, only some of them. The shift levers did take on different shapes as the M progressed through the years. Just keep in mind that the Ms have a lot of years on them, shift levers wore out and quite possibly could have been replaced with the newer style, which could be why you have seen 2 different styles on the same year tractors.
