I use sand blasting in my auto restoration business. I hire a commercial blaster to do the heavy work, the chassis, etc, and do the sheet metal myself with lower pressure than the commercial blaster. He makes the nastiest looking pile of rust look new. I just had a dump mechanism for a Ford F5 done, and the result was amazing. It is very important to stay away from grease seals and bearings, and any entry to the engine or transmsision. All openings must be sealed tightly, or any sand entering will ruin everything. I am about to blast my F20N, and will just do it lightly, to remove the loose rust and paint, and not try to blast to white metal. I had the commercial man do the rims, and it took him a half hour each to make them completely rust free. He charges me $60 per hour, but the result is worth it. I will post a pic on my web site when the paint is on.
