Remove the transmission top cover and the axle. Since the bull gear is loose already you can probably pull the axle first and see what happened to the threads.
You will need to remove the cover to reassemble.
Replace the inner & outer axle seals while you have the chance.
Support the chassis carefully to prevent an accident.
