Oh, for god's sake it's not a snow job. The gas cap offer is part of a lawsuit settlement that International Harvester (now Navistar) entered into over some accidents. The newer caps prevent pressure buildup. They are especially important on the 300-400 tractors on up, where the gas tank has more sheet metal (insulation) around it and temperatures run higher.
