Old Has it correct. If the tractor is stored inside, out of all but casual rain, the oil will last several seasons, The platform (top of the transmission differential that your feet rest on) tend to leak water through bolt holes. The shifter may (it is said) leak water in as well. It has no breather and (I believe) as it is warmed in use, and cooled when stopped at night, the system breathes in damp air, it condenses and contaminates the oil, then breathes out dried air. Thus building up H2O in the system. If milky colored when drained it had water in it. I think heating the housing with an electric space heater, or putting some kind of magnetic electric block heater on it for a day once a year would evaporate out the water.
