Thanks for the info, I found a picture of a SMTA with the LP conversion, I could tell the difference in the tank design. The way you described mine is right on. My SM was built July 3, 1953 so there were quite a few built after it.

LP was very popular here in the Mississippi Delta(cheap fuel and you could not siphon the tank). I was wondering how many SM were LP from Farmall?

Also mine has the flanged rear axel housings so you could attach the high-drum cotton picker to it.
