I moved back to the country and the widow next door sold me her late husband's Farmall Super A -- giving me no information about it. "SAm in NS" (and others) deciphered that I "have a 1948 Super A with a 1952 Super C motor.... the serial number corresponds to a late 1952 Super C. This also matches up with your block casting date. So you probably have the C-123 engine as opposed to the C-113 engine that was in most Super A's." The previous owner had mentioned something about the engine being rebuilt but I didn't catch the details. My brother removed the valve cover and assured me the engine had not run 3 hours since it had been reworked -- although the tractor was said to have been parked out in the open for as much as 4 1/2 years (with the exhaust covered). What type and viscosity, etc., of oil should I use in this engine knowing it will be operated in north central Texas in temperatures between 30 and 105 degrees F? (I don't know an operator who will work outside that temp. range.) Thanks in advance. Dan K
