454 help

Ok - thanks for all the help! Here is an update on my 454. Dealer rebuilt the carburetor, I replaced the coil, points, condenser. I still need to run the choke at about 1/2 for anything to work decent. Every once-in-awhile it will "cough" - enough to flutter the choke butterfly. Governor doesn't move. Have not had a chance to check compression. Still runs like cr*p, but is getting better. The intake/exhaust manifold gaskets MIGHT be leaking - figured to change them anyway. Any more ideas? Dealer hates me, because I expect this thing to at least run, since my trade-in ran good.

If impossible to place tractor under cover, be sure to cover air stack and exhaust pipe. Drain radiator and engine block. To avoid gum content collections, drain both fuel tanks and carburetor.
