Pressure Plate Surface

In taking apart my F-20 clutch housing I am cleaning things up and find that the pressure plate while not discolored or blued has some surface hair line cracking that only goes a few thousandths deep from what I can tell. My coworker says I either need to replace it or have it resurfaced. Is that in fact true, or is that just the way an 80 year old pressure plate is going to look? Am I asking for trouble to just re-install it as is. I haven't changed out enough clutches to really know.
