This has been discussed many times. It is unlikely that your tractor has non-detergent in it, as detergent oil has been around since the 50's. But there are always a few diehards. The oil pan and likely the valve train in most old tractors will be full of crud, detergent or non-detergent, unless the tractor has had outstanding care. At a minimum remove the pan and clean it. The valve train can be cleaned also, but to do that you need to remove the valve cover, head, and the plate on the right side of the engine.
