We had a 686 with a 310. That engine is absolutly bulletproof. The 310 powered 686 was the most fuel-efficient IH tractor under 165 horsepower. That being said, would I own another 686 with the 310...? No. Not unless I lived somwhere that never sees a temp below 40 degrees. I've been around 310 powered 706's and 756's that started better. Even the old 826's will start faster.
