With the carb on the bench look at the throttle stop screw where it contacts the cam on the end of the shaft. Adjust that so that it is barely touching the cam. Then turn it all the way in counting turns. Then all the way back to the "just touching " point. That is youer minimum setting. Going further out than this is useless. I wouldn't worry about a little play in the shaft. If you wiggle the shaft and watch the butterfly you will see that nothing really happens there. we're not talking 7000 rpm, 400 hp v8 firebteathers here. gw
