as a lot know by cutoff rims he means they were cut off steel wheels with rubber tire rims welded on. cutting the axle like jimn mentioned reminds me of a story. my boss collected some tractors years ago and he had a minne u row crop with one axle longer than the other by quite a bit.he told us that the long axle must be wrong and we should cut it off as long as the other one. one of the guys tried to torch it off and then grind it smooth, but it would not cut. he showed me what looked like a hacksaw cut on the axle where someone had tried this before. that night i looked at some m&m tractor books and realized that that was a beet tractor! that axle stayed like it was. russ
