Hi BIG JOHN,"sold the cattle"...do you keep cattle over the winter, replacement cattle , or wait for spring for you next cattle to come? I am like Cowman, I haven't been using the gas tractors too much as the price of gas is prohibitive. The M and two H's are in the shed, I'll put some fuel stabalizer in the tanks and let them sit. I start them once in a while through the winter. I will stack my hay wagons one on top the other and pack them into a corner of the shed. The rest of the machinery is already in with the exception of a rotory mower and a sickle mower which I usually set up on the top wagon of the stacked set. The hay rake has to go up in the barn and everything will be battened down for the blow. I need to get my snowblower out and to the local welding shop as it has worn cogs and roller chain, may as well replace them. I'll leave the cattle running out untill it gets real nasty, then I close the doors and keep them in the barn, that way they keep the water from freezing. I still have to get corn and corn screenings augered into the grainery but that's a while off yet. My little diesel w loader is just a handy outfit and it has replaced the gas tractors for doing the odd jobs around the farm. I need to get to the bush and load up a few loads of firewood, I got about five loads home now, lots of dry dead elm that makes good burning. I don't plan to use a lot of heating oil at close to $4 a gallon. I've got calves that need to be ear tagged, castrated and vaccinated so one of these Saturdays my son in law and I are going to have our own little rodeo, then..well I guess I am ready for winter. I been working out a bit and that will tail off as most of the work is maintenance, lawn and landscape work. Take care BIG JOHN....Mike in Exeter Ontario
