You need to check to make sure your mag isn't being grounded out. This is how the engine is shutdown by grounding out the mag. With a distributor the ignition switch kills the battery voltage to the ignition components. There may be switch to ground out the mag, I had an A, but it had a distributor. The coil may be weak too.
