I did a SMTA clutch on my lathe. It was an easy job. You will probably find that there will be dime sized hard spots all over the surface. If you take off .030-040 you will probably be able to remove them. If you take off any less, you will have a mess that looks like scrambled eggs. If the flywheel has a step where the pressure plate bolts, take the same depth on that surface to assure proper tension of the clutch springs.
