806 Range Gears

HELP!! I have an 806 that will not go into high range. Showed pictures of range gears to IH Mechanic. He says replace Collar Carrier and Shift Collar. Question, if I split the tractor between the clutch housing and the range trans housing, can I replace those two parts through the front of the range trans housing? If there is too much info to put into this forum, please call me at 989-975-6195. Thanks, Rick
