1949 cub radiator

Big Dog, Need some information. Where the row of bolts go around the bottom of the radiator, one of the bolt holes is broken off inside the tank. There is still plenty of thread left. If I put some teflon tape around the threads will it seal ok? Anyone have this problem before? Will I have to replace the base? Trying to get the old girl restored. Also the front axle has a crack in the tube on the left side and was wondering if it could be welted or would it have to be replaced? Would appreciate any advice. George
