That carburetor probably has several different applications. Depending on what the carb is being used on, it may need the choke lever on the other side. The instructions included with carb kits are not as good as they used to be, and most carb kits come with absolutely no instructions, or the instructions leave out so many important details that you could apply the info included to just about any brand of carb. Be thankful that you had as much info as you did.
