Andrew, I've heard of guys welding blocks and /or drilling and pinning blocks. This after new sleeve and other repairs. A rod comes through the block when a bearing lets go or a wrist pin breaks and as the engine turns the rod is a loose cannon flying around in there at all angles until it gouges into the wall of the block and "Bang" its through the wall of the block..can be fixed, I'd likely find another block personally, if I have to rebuild its going to be a good block..not to say that some breaks are very successfully repaired...Mike in Exeter Ontario
