I'd look around real good within throwin range for that cap. Probably took it off by mistake and threw it to be spiteful. May be in the bushes nearby...or maybe they just needed one like I do. Wouldn't ever steal one though. Can't see having a lot of pride in a tractor when your are staring at stolen goods every time you ride on it.
