Hi Mark, the 464 has same transmission arrangement as 454,574,674,484,584 etc. It has two transmissions, a range transmission (Lo/Hi/Rev) and a speed transmission (1 thru 4). Since your tractor is stuck in 1st gear the problem is in the speed transmission. The speed transmission is in the torque tube between the clutch housing and the range transmission. It is under the battery and the power steering unit. There is a top cover that can be removed and that is where the shift mechanism is located. Search archives for Bernard le mecano as he explianed it all to someone with a problem on 454. Good luck JB2
