Ron: Forget the heater hoses. Your 460 diesel will much the same as the 560 diesel. What you need here is a natural flow through the engine block. In essence this must thermosyphon. The place to hook to block is block drain just to the back of injection pump for return line to heater. On the head of that engine, same side as injection pump you will notice a plug above each cylinder. The original plugs were recessed and a 1/2" drive handle would remove them. Hook the discharge from heater into one of those near center of engine. That way, you get circulation within the engine, and makes the heater very effective. If I remember correctly I had to make fitting for that outlet in the head as it is quite large. Seems to me, we brazed two fittings together. My heater was 1500 watt and at -20F it only had to be plugged in for an hour for a summer like start. Very effective I found. I had these on both my 560 and 656 and 3rd one on a 6 cylinder turbo charged Deere. These heaters were far superior to frost plug heaters as in 66 and 86 series tractors. I think that circulation within the engine is quite important though.
