If it runs, what are the symptoms that make it need repair. Measurement is the key to good repair. Measurement can be simple and very effective using Plastigage, and feeler gages for the majority of components. If the pan is taken off the rods and (I think) front two main bearings can be plastigaged. Follow the directions. With the head off the pistons can be checked for fit with strip feeler gages. Older (pre 1970) auto repair manuals/texts are helpful in diagnosis, and measurement. If it runs, does not knock or sound strange, and if it doesn't smoke grey/blue using oil smoke I'd leave it alone. My two cents, JimN
