Can't help you with these. You should have a 6 digit engine s/n with the 1949 casting code you earlier provided. Don't have a clue what the ME stands for but the X1 is a gasoline engine. A "E" code was used to designate a tractor with 8,000 ft. altitude components. A "M" code was used to designate a low speed attachment but don't why that would be on the engine block. Maybe someone else with the required knowledge will have an answer. Hal
