Paul i wish i could help ya but i have never been into one of them 8.3 cummins . If i ever did have to work on one i would have to go get a cummins book and also go talk to the boys that work on them everyday . I know several guys that still work on the cummins but i have know idea when i'll see them . As you are probably not the only one that has had this problem or here's and idea give cummins a call down in Columbus Ind. and talk to tech supportwhen i bought my dodge with a cummins i called down there and had a nice long talk with a guy that told me a lot about the 5.9 and they even have and 800 # .
