Wardner: I wondered that after saying it. Started thinking that gear box is quite close to back of torque tube, and the shaft for powering wheels may not be different. Since belt pullies were a disappearing item at that time, I can see IH making the top of that torque tube, so mounting for pulley gear box was same distance from drive shaft. No point in designing a new gear box for a belt pulley by mid 50s. I didn't have a belt pulley for my 560, but did on 300 and belt pulley speed changes with TA. I stand corrected.
