The new aftermarket ones (I think many places sell the same thing for about $75) made in China or some place do have sealed bearings and don't need oil. I got one for my SC. It was defective so sent it back for another. The blade that came with the replacement hit the water pump shaft. I couldn't space it forward to miss the shaft 'cause the spindle mounting bolt was too short and besides the pulleys wouldn't have lined up. I suppose one could have made a spacer to put between the hub and fan blade and got by, but that's a lot of work. I think though, that the aftermarket cheapies might work on a C without water pump. I'd recommend looking for a good used original. They're out there. I found one on eBay.
