John: If the engine is Ok on all other areas it would be well worth doing a full job on it. I have a 1942 W4 and rebuilt the engine 20 years ago. It is getting to the point I should do it again but these things last if they are done right. Don't take short cuts. It just doesn't pay in the long run. I use mine a lot, to pull a wagon, spreader,rake and stuff. Very useful little guy.
