I had the same thing happen with my Super C. Started it for the 1st time after restoration. Went in the house to get the camera and came out to an awful screeching sound. I had serviced and oiled mine also. There was no warning it just froze right up. Got an after market like yours and been running trouble free since then. Ticked me off to have to put a wrench to my new paint job. Oh well.
