Help!! 300 locked in gear

While pushing snow with the Farmall "300" (row crop) it locked up in gear. Over the past year, this has happened a couple of times on me. Before, all I did was remove the shifter and align the notches on all three rails put it back together and it worked fine. This time after I put it back together it is still locked in 2 gears. I have taken it apart a couple of times and even moved the rails into different gears with a screw driver, then realigned the rails and notches, but it still stuck in 2 gears. Any suggestion what my problem is and how I might fix it? Thanks for you help.
