Will - the early (39 & early40) H & M lights were the same as the later ones ....with one minor diference , the "guide" lenses had a slightly different design/look - the lines (or grooves) on the face of the glass look more "striped" rather than "checkered" like the later ones
i have never seen (or heard of) crome rings (might be an aftermarket ring ??)
