Actually the H does have a tensioning device, but it"s not what you"d think. The pulley on the fan is threaded. There is a set screw that holds it in place. Loosen that and the front half of the sheeve will unscrew toward the fan, allowing you to get the old belt off, new belt on. Sometimes you have to tap it with a punch on the flat spots on the hub to get it to move. Then tighten it by screwing the sheeves together, making the belt ride higher on the pulley. You never get it really tight like in a car, etc., but that"s okay. It sounds to me like your regulator is stuck, causing the generator to motor. When the engine is shut down, the contacts in the regulator should open. Paul
